Karnataka is the eighth largest state in India in terms of area. The capital of Karnataka is Bangalore or Bangalore, which is known as the information technology capital of India. Sometime back, Bangalore was called 'Garden City', now it is 'IT City'.
In 1973, the state of Mysore was renamed as Karnataka. Many rulers and dynasties rule the region and thus have a distinct culture. The early history of Karnataka states that it was a part of the Maurya Empire, and was later ruled by the Satavahanas, the Pallavas, the Kadambas and many others. Each dynasty has been immortalized in history through its architectural feats, which can be seen as monuments and temples scattered throughout the kingdom. After the independence of India, the state of Karnataka was restored on the basis of 'Kannada speaking' people.
