Created on 1 November 2000, Chhattisgarh is the 10th largest state in the country, with an area of 135,194 km2 (52,199 sq mi). It is the 17th most populous state in India with a population of 27,928,015. The state's economy dominates its wet steel plant SEC. The railway zone meets Balco Aluminum Plant, SE Coal Limited and National Thermal Power Corporation Corporation Limited. To add to all this, Chhattisgarh is a mineral rich state. The services sector includes trade, transportation, communications, banking and insurance and real estate.
